I’m glad you’ve found my blog! Through writing about all that is bipolar, I want to help alleviate some of the stigma that exists with having a mental illness. I want to share stories to help others understand what having a mental illness is like. Mental illness affects so many people. If by talking about this mental illness helps just one person suffer a little less, then it is worth the work and vulnerability that goes into writing these posts.

A little about my journey...

Since experiencing my first severe depressive episode at 13, I frantically searched for any information I could find that would explain the severe feeling of hopelessness that I experienced. After several hospitalizations, ECT (shock therapy), endless amounts of varying psychiatric meds, and a near stint of brain surgery known as “deep brain stimulation”, I found the correct diagnosis: bipolar 2 disorder. Having found the correct diagnosis has made it possible to find remission from bipolar 2 disorder. I am not cured, by any means. But my bipolar disorder no longer rules my world.
